running is way too much fun
So almost a year ago I started to run on a consistent basis. I started when we went to the cottage in Grand Bend Ontario. When we got back to Grand Rapids we started to look for a nature trail to run on since we found that the concrete in the city was too hard. So we rediscovered the Kent Trails again and started to run there. Its right along the Grand River around Johnson Park and Millennium Park. The first time I ran I saw a number of deer. As I continued to run, I saw more and more wildlife. Over the past year I have seen a lot of different birds and a lot of wildlife. The list goes as follows:
Deer
Wild Turkeys
Painted Turtle
Snapping Turtle
Pair of Swans and their young
Snakes
Canadian Geese
Mallard Ducks
Blue Winged Teal Duck
Great Blue Herons
Double Crested Cormorants
White Cranes
Belted Kingfisher
Golden-winged Warbler
Gold finches
Robins
Red-winged Black birds
Cardinals
Blue Jays
Tufted Titmouse
Yellow Warbler
Cedar Waxwings
Indigo Bunting
Crows
Pileated Woodpecker
Downy Woodpecker
Hairy Woodpecker
Red-bellied Woodpecker
White-breasted Nuthatch
Common Flicker
Tree Swallows
Pair of Eastern Bluebirds
Northern ("Baltimore") Oriole
Rose-breasted Grosbeak
Common Grackle
Brown-headed Cow bird
Starlings
Humming Bird
Ground hogs
Muskrats
rabbits
mice
and so on.
So now when ever I go running I will be logging what different types of wildlife I see. Enjoy!
